A camping safari is one of the greatest travel adventures. Pitching your tent in the bush gives you the eerie feeling of living in the wild. The ambience and aura of a campfire under a exceptional sky full of stars is undeniable, and night in the wild is unchanted, where the aura rings with the hyenas laughs and the dawn is heralded by the unrivalled sound of roaring lions .
Most of Kenya's Game Reserves and National Parks have campgrounds with basic camping facilities. Clear tent space and long drop latrines are often available. In some campsites, water and rudimentary shelters are also provided.
Vehicles, guides, tents and equipment, as well as food and a cook are provided at a cost.
All you are required from a camper are:adequate supplies of fresh water, food, fuel and emergency supplies. local water supplies or rivers and streams are not reliable. Stream or river water should be filtered or boiled for several minutes before any use.
Local advice should be sought in advance for any trek or camping outside designated sites as either the land or risk involved far surpusses the gains. In some instances, advance permission from the owners or local tribesmen and/or payment for privately owned land may be required. The locals might be culture sensitive or hostile to any intruder to the camping party.
Camping should always impact the environment minimally.. Any rubbish and waste matter should be buried, burnt, or carried away with you. Any foodstuff should not be left inside a tentas it may attract apes and other wild animals. Great care should be taken when dealing with wildlife as the dangers imposed by them are enormous.
